Goat meat is the most widely consumed meat in the world.
Goat meat, also known
as Chevon, Capretto or Cabrito, is the most widely eaten meat in the world. Popularity in Australia is increasing as diversity in population grows.
Goat meat is the only meat that transcends all religious boundaries. It is an important part
of many ethnic traditions and festivals such as Ramadan, Greek Easter,
Hindu Festival of Dashera and holidays such as Christmas.
Goat meat can be purchased at butchers. It is not often found in supermarkets, although it is becoming more readily available. Coles Supermarkets started introducing goat meat after it was used on TV show Masterchef in 2009. Butchers dubbed it the Masterchef effect.
Goat meat is lean and low in fat
- Goat meat is lower in fat and cholestrol than chicken.
- Goat meat is lower in calories than beef, lamb and pork.
- Goat meat has iron levels higher than beef.

reported to be the healthiest red meat available, according to the US
Department of Agriculture. The report said that goat meat was low in
fat and cholesterol and high in protein.
