Ausagoat Newsletter February 2015

News from CEO Philip Lynn

I hope everyone had a good break over the holiday season.

This belated newsletter is to advise everyone, especially our western suppliers, of the changes to our business in the last few months.
2014 was a very busy year for Ausgoat as our supplier base in Cobar continued to expand and our Sydney customer base of butchers grew satisfactorily.

The growth in Ausgoat led me to re-assess my plans for the company, and after much consideration I decided it was time re-structure the business. The decision was made to sell a part of Ausgoat, including our Cobar Depot.

As of the 24th of December 2014 our Cobar Goat Depot was sold to Ascot Meats from Wodonga, Victoria. I would like to welcome the owners - the McPhee Family and their staff to Cobar, and wish them all the best with their new venture.
You will still meet the familiar faces of Tim Walmsley and Louisa Kleu at the Cobar Depot as they will continue to work under the new management, with the same high standards of service and price.

I would like to thank each and every one of you who have delivered goats to our Cobar Depot over the last 6 years. You have been part of growing and developing this business from the original Nyngan Road site to the highly developed Goat Handling Facility at “Gattaca”. It has been an absolute pleasure doing business with you and also having the chance to catch up with many of you during our Open Days in Cobar.

At the same time our depot at “Merita” near Fords Bridge has closed, as our plans for a buyer to continue the depot did not eventuate.

We remain trading under the Ausgoat name as there is still a lot of work for us to do. We continue to supply and expand our domestic meat supply business to metropolitan areas on a daily basis. The high quality of Ausgoat meat will remain unchanged as it is sourced from the same suppliers.

The Glen Innes Depot will continue operating from our property “Cherry Tree Hill” in Glen Innes with its current manager Bob Hilton – no changes there.

I will continue to market larger runs of goats for direct delivery to abattoirs providing the best possible returns to the growers.
Speaking of dollar returns, the goat meat market is at record highs at present. In all the years that I have been in the goat business, I have never seen the demand for goat meat this strong returning incredible prices to the growers. These returns are justly deserved especially for the farmers who have battled through the lean years and participated in making this now mainstream industry into what it is today.

The Glen Innes office remains a daily hub of activity run by myself and my wife Bettina together with our dedicated Financial Manager Donna McAllister.

All the best from all of us here at AUSGOAT.

Philip Lynn
